The Ottawa Recruiting Challenge - Today and Tomorrow
April 1, 2008 - Hampton Conference Centre
Session Overview
ORRA is pleased to announce a breakfast event focused on the increasing difficulty in recruiting qualified
talent to meet business requirements in the Ottawa area. While known for its telecom and software expertise,
the emerging industry clusters (e.g. clean technologies, life sciences) are struggling to attract different skill
sets to Ottawa. The employment market is tight and given the local demographics and growth projections, we will
need to import talent to meet the demand in all industry sectors.
OCRI’s Michael Darch, Executive Director,
Ottawa Global Marketing will discuss the current and future challenges we face; how OCRI promotes
the multi-industry character of the city to attract business and talent to this market; what employers can do
to advocate for the development of a greater resource pool.
Don Stewart, Executive VP & Senior Partner,
inRound Innovations frequently partners with OCRI on business development initiatives. Don
will discuss his experience in attracting talent into the Ottawa market and how to effectively engage
outsourcing companies to help meet your recruiting needs.
Mike D’Amico, VP Human Resources & Organizational
Effectiveness, Iogen Corporation will discuss the challenges of recruiting resources to Ottawa; what
issues has Iogen faced and how have they dealt with these issues.
Please join us for this hot topic discussion – what can we all do to ensure access to the necessary resources
to sustain and grow our organizations? Bring your recruiting issues, success stories and ideas to share with
your colleagues.
